Both the Rice campus and Houston offer a wealth of opportunities for students interested in Jewish life and Jewish studies. Rice boasts both a Hillel and a Chabad, which serve students’ religious and communal needs on campus. In addition, the Houston community supports a robust and flourishing Jewish cultural, religious, and even culinary scene, including Jewish book fairs, film festivals, numerous synagogues, and kosher restaurants.
Students at Rice are also eligible to apply for funding from the Program in Jewish Studies for summer research and travel projects. Many students have also traveled abroad as part of travel courses sponsored by the program, to Berlin, Jerusalem, and New York.
